The Sincorá Route

A full week touring around the National Park and visiting the region’s most beautiful areas. This is the best way to visit the Chapada Diamantina, saving transfer time and mixing car trips with good hikes. It’s a very complete tour, passing through different ecosystems within the Chapada Diamantina - from deep valleys and mountain ranges, to crystal blue pools, limestone caves, and even swamp lands. It’s an easy way to visit all around the Park.

Tour schedule

1st day: ARRIVAL IN LENÇÓIS

Reception at the Lençóis airport (or the Lençóis Bus Station) and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Lençóis

2nd day: THE LAPA DOCE CAVE, PRATINHA AND BLUE CAVE, PAI INACIO MOUNTAIN

Pick up at 8:30 a.m. This tour is mostly by car, with short hikes to three places on the northern edge of the National Park. In the morning, you’ll head to Iraquara, the regional Cave Capital, to walk through the enormous limestone Lapa Doce cave with its huge rock formations, stalactites and columns. After the cave, you’ll enjoy a delicious regional lunch and visit the Pratinha Farm and the impressive blue cave impressive Blue Cave.

In the afternoon you will hike to the top of the Morro do Pai Inácio Mountain (20 minutes), perhaps the most famous postcard-view of the Chapada Diamantina. At the top of this sandstone table-mountain you’ll have an impressive 360° view of the peaks and valleys of the Chapada Diamantina, and the National Park itself, and be able to watch the sunset before returning to Lençóis.

3rd day: FUMAÇA WATERFALL AND CAPÃO VALLEY

A day hike to visit one of the highest waterfalls in Brazil. Pick up at 8:30a.m. and transfer by car to Capão Valley, where the trail starts. It’s a 2 Km uphill hike, followed by 4 Km more on flat lands, giving beautiful views of Capão Valley and the surrounding mountains. Arriving at the waterfall, you’ll have a view from a 400 m high lookout pointy and a lunch break. Same route back to the car. Swimming at the Riachinho River and waterfall after the hike and accommodation at night in Capão Valley.

4th day: CAPÃO VILLAGE - GUINÉ TRAIL - MUCUGÊ

This is a traditional hike from Capão Valley to the village of Guiné. Pick-up at 9:00 a.m. and a jeep ride for the first 8 Km to the end of Capão valley. The first part of the hike is a lot of uphill to reach the Paty Valley highlands as Capão valley disappears behind you. The second part of the hike is 14 Km along a rolling trail surrounded by amazing tabletop mountains. The last 2 Km is all downhill, ending at Guiné. Transfer by car to the town of Mucugê

5th day: BURACÃO WATERFALL - MUCUGÊ

This is definitely one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Chapada Diamantina! Pick-up at 8:00 a.m. and transfer by car to the town of Ibicoara to visit the Buracão waterfall – an impressive 100m high falls surrounded by breathtaking and colorful canyons. The 100m falls can be visited both from the top and from the bottom (by swimming between high canyon walls in the river below the falls). Lunch break at the Orquídeas waterfall and a return trip to Mucugê

6th day: 3 BARRAS WATERFALL

The tour begins with a 20 minute car ride from Mucugê, then a hike along the Piaba river to the beautiful 3 Barras waterfall with its wide pool and many cascades. There will be a lunch break and time for swimming, and the a visit to the Sempre-Viva Project, a local NGO that works to protect the region´s native flowers and vegetation.

If the group would rather do more hiking instead of visiting the Sempre-Viva Project, the trail keeps going to the 70m high Cristais waterfall. You’ll end the day in the charming village of Igatu.

7th day: POÇO ENCANTADO AND POÇO AZUL

The village of Igatu is known as the City of Stones because of its peculiar architecture and the exclusive use of stones as building materials. You will visit the mining period ruins and the art gallery in the morning, and then go by car to the Poço Encantado, an impressive blue water pool inside a wide limestone cave, where we can enjoy a shaft of sunlight crossing the water until the bottom, at 60m deep.

Next, you will visit the Poço Azul – another impressive underground pool of crystal blue water, where it’s possible to do some snorkeling. After the swim, a delicious home-cooked lunch before our return to Lençóis

8th day: RETURN DAY

Transfer to the Lençóis airport / or Bus Station
